  • What is Solidor?

    The Solidor Collection is an outstanding range of industry leading, solid laminate timber core composite doors that provide a stunning, high quality, energy-efficient and secure entrance to any home.

    Our composite doors have a solid laminate timber core with a thickness of 48mm and feature a full range of Secured by Design locking systems.

    Each solid hardwood timber core is completely encapsulated within a highly durable plastic edge banding and two thermo plastic door skins, so you will never have to worry about painting or varnishing your new composite door.

    We have a wide range of style, frame and colour options available for your composite door, which are colour matched - whether that is a traditional, contemporary, French door or stable door - with complementary combination frames, side panels and top lights. We also have an extensive selection of glass options including a range of obscure glass.

  • Where is Composite Doors Yorkshire based?

    Composite Doors Yorkshire is based in Huddersfield, however can manufacture, supply and install products for domestic and trade customers throughout Yorkshire and the UK.

  • Why are the doors supplied by Composite Doors Yorkshire bespoke?

    Because we are able to manufacture each door at our factory in Huddersfield, we can make a door bespoke to your specific requirements - colour, design, glass - plus with our composite doors we can shape the top of your door to fit e.g. arched, round etc. We are also able to create an integrated frame including top and side lights which provides greater security.

  • What are composite doors?

    Composite doors are made up from a variety of materials, which have been chosen for their beneficial properties and these include PVC, wood, insulating foam and thermo plastic door skins. The combination of these materials mean that the end result is a door that is strong and secure.

  • Will a composite door warp?

    No - the composite doors from Composite Doors Yorkshire will not warp as the solid hardwood timber core is completely encapsulated within a highly durable plastic edge banding and two thermo plastic door skins, This also means that you will also never have to worry about painting or varnishing your new composite door.

  • How do I care for my new composite door?

    Composite doors are high quality, durable, secure, energy efficient, fantastic looking, and actually incredibly easy to care for as, due to their very nature and composition, they won’t discolour, fade or warp.

    However to keep your door in the best condition we recommend simply washing regularly with warm soapy water with a soft cloth to remove any grime or dirt. Also all moving parts such as hinges, handles, knockers etc, will require regular lubrication every 6 months.

  • Are composite doors more secure than a normal door?

    Absolutely! The composite doors from Composite Doors Yorkshire are even more secure than many others available on the market because we combine the Solidor solid timber core and thermo plastic door skins, with the Kommerling galvanised steel reinforced profiles and Astral S locking mechanism.

  • How long does it take from placing my order for a Solidor composite door to delivery / installation?

    Dependent on the style and design of Solidor composite door you choose, delivery and installation is usually between 2-4 weeks from date of order.

  • What colour is the interior facing side of the composite door?

    The beauty of ordering a composite door from a company that manufactures as well as delivers and installs, is that we can make your door bespoke to you. This means that you can have different colours on the exterior and interior of your new door, so the inside could match your interior decor.

  • How long does a Solidor composite door last?

    The doors and frames are guaranteed for 10 years. All moving parts e.g. hinges and door handles, require regular maintenance.

  • What colour options are available for my composite door?

    We have a fantastic choice of 18 colours for your new composite door, with option to match the door colour to the door frame. You can also choose to have a different colour on the interior facing side of the door should you wish.

  • What security features do composite doors from Composite Doors Yorkshire have?

    Our aim is to ensure that the products we manufacture and install are as secure as possible, so we offer customers the Kommerling 070 and C70 frame system for both windows and doors, as it is both energy efficient and secure with galvanised steel reinforcement.

  • Can I save money on my energy bills by installing new windows and doors?

    Yes. Old windows and doors and more likely to allow heat to escape from your home, which in turn will increase your energy bills.

    The windows and doors fitted by us have greater thermal efficiency which should help to reduce your energy bills.

  • Who is responsible for obtaining a Building Control Certificate?

    When a FENSA certificate is not applicable, a Building Control Certificate will be required. It is the responsibility of the home owner, builder or developer to obtain a Building Control Certificate (For example in the case of listed or commercial buildings or extensions.)
